Every time I want to say Mennonite, I have to think about it so I won't accidentally say Ammonite. Anyways, a Mennonite came to our door yesterday morning, inquiring about the apples. He was with two other men who had the customary hats, beards, and suspenders, but they were driving a pickup truck, so I'm assuming they were Mennonite not Amish. I guess I really should learn more about the two religions and how they differ, beyond their use, or lack thereof, of technology. Sometimes, I feel bad getting excited about spotting an amish/mennonite at the store or on the road. It's about the same reaction Bruce has when he sees a deer. I guess it's just what you're used to. I don't look twice at a middle eastern woman with a head shawl or a teenager covered with tattoos and piercings, but I've never been around a person who looks like they just stepped out of a Little House on the Prairie book. I think it would be a neat experience to live like the Amish for a few months and see what it's like. I'm sure it would give me a better appreciation for dishwashers, washers and dryers, and especially air conditioning!
Here's another picture of Alice with the pig. We spend a lot of time with this pig...

What interesting cross cultural experiences you are having. I also have been very interested in the Amish and Mennonite and Hutterite groups. I don't know much about them but it would be neat to learn more about thier lifestyle.
