What we have been up to...

BRUCE...

No pictures of Bruce. All he's been doing is work, his church calling, and studying for his licensing exam. He hopes to take the exam in mid-April and is looking forward to getting it out of the way. So am I!

FAITH...

Bruce planned a special weekend of activities for my 30th birthday, but because of the power outages due to a major snow storm, all his plans were ruined. We did go eat at a friend's house and she made me an amazingly wonderful carrot cake.

I've also been doing some sewing projects lately. I made these cute little coloring aprons for some of Alice's friends for their birthdays. My mom and I got the idea from the Amish, who make and sell them where we used to live in Iowa. My mom made one for Alice and I followed her design to make these.

After a trip to Virginia for a little friend reunion with Keely and Mel, Alice made me this beautiful sign. Bruce helped her, of course, but I thought it was very sweet.

ALICE...

Alice has been bothering me about going swimming for weeks. Last week, there was one day that it got into the 60s so I finally gave in and filled the pool with hot water from the tap. I was impressed--Alice stayed in and played for about 15 minutes in her 'hot tub.'

Alice also really enjoyed the new headbands the Valentines fairy left her. In fact, I don't know if she's taken them off since she got them. She even wears them to bed.

The most exciting news, at least for me, is that Alice is making good progress with potty-training. Last week we stayed home the whole week. I'd prepared Alice in advance that as of that Monday, there would be no more diapers. For a couple of days, there was barely any progress but then I read an article about defiant potty-trainers and they suggested telling the child that it was their responsibility to get their pee pee and poo poo in the toilet and then be totally hands off and not remind them to go. That was really hard for me not to remind her, but after a couple of accidents, she started telling me when she needed to go (which has never happened). I was so excited! It's still somewhat rocky but at least I feel like we can go places now.

Alice has also become very interested in photography. This is one of her pictures of Myra. Every time she takes a picture she'll say, "this is Myra's first time." I couldn't figure out what she meant until I realized she was copying us and trying to catch some of Myra's 'firsts.' I guess this is probably the first time we've ever let Myra eat Doritos!

MYRA...

Myra is great at feeding herself now and her favorite thing to do is to put her diapers in the diaper pail. She also loves rice crispies with honey. In fact, anything with honey involved is ok with Myra.

We're trying to teach her how to kiss, but she doesn't ever make the kissing sound, so you never know when the kiss has ended.

This is Myra's look when she knows she's been caught getting into something. She's getting so tall and is climbing so well that nothing is safe.

Myra's hair is finally long enough for pigtails.

ALICE & MYRA...

Myra and Alice helping Mommy make cookies.

Sometimes Alice and Myra wrestle, and every once in awhile Myra will happen to get on top. She's so heavy that without even trying to pin her, she can hold Alice down pretty well.

Fun in the snow.

I loved seeing pictures of your kids. They are growing so fast, especially Myra. She looks like Alice did when you guys moved to Iowa. We miss you guys.

Who are these tall children? I only saw the pictures of when they were smaller. It's good to see they're growing up big and healthy. We still miss Bruce in the clinic. We joked after he left that whenever a patient was mad at us and asked our name that we would say "Dr. Parkinson". But of course we would never do that. Hope your entire family is doing well.
