The Saturday before Easter was the town's Easter egg hunt. Though it was hard to wait behind the line until it was time to start, the girls loved running around grabbing eggs. At one point, a mass of running kids and parents with video recorders/cameras stampeded across our little area and I lost Myra in the confusion, but she didn't seem to notice.

Some of the eggs held special tickets that you could turn in for prizes. Myra won the grand prize--a bag full of smaller prizes and Alice got a bucket and stuffed lamb.

As I was doing these cookies with Alice, I realized I was being way too perfectionistic and not letting her do much, so the last batch I left her alone and she did it all by herself. She rolled out the dough, cut the shapes out, and put them on the cookie sheet, and you know what? They looked just as good as the ones I'd made!

If you haven't noticed, Alice got a haircut a couple of weeks ago. I'd been going crazy trying to keep her thin, unruly hair up in rubber bands, but this is so much easier!

We had Easter dinner with our friends the Bakers and then had an egg hunt in their backyard. Their son Miles had fun squishing the hard boiled eggs on his head--wish I had a picture to post, it was really funny. Alice and Myra were more concerned with finding as many eggs as possible.
