Update

A month or two ago, Myra decided that she wanted to wear underwear and pretty much potty-trained herself.  After the horrible experience we had with Alice, this was a pleasant surprise.  She still has accidents every once in awhile, but so does Alice, so we can't complain!  We also just signed Myra up for pre-school for next year.  She actually doesn't make the October 1st cutoff, so she will be in a 2s class, but we felt she was ready to make the transition now.

Alice and I are having a fun time with the book, 'Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons.'  She absolutely loves doing the lessons and has already started reading a few words.  We've actually only gotten to lesson nine because I had to return it to the library, but I just ordered our own copy so we should be back to them soon.  Alice is also getting geared up for kindergarten next year.  We toyed with the idea of putting her in a Pre-K program but decided that half day Kindergarten wouldn't be much different, beyond riding the bus.  Whether we'll actually be able to get her to ride the bus is another question...

Monday morning was like Christmas for me.  I tossed and turned most of the night and then finally just got up around 6am.  Why?  Well, I was in an 11-week weight loss competition that would be over after I weighed myself Monday morning and I was really really excited about having yummy food again!  I had orange juice for the first time in 11 weeks and had a big bowl of Kashi cinnamon and oatmeal cereal.  Yummy!  I also happened to win the weight loss competition--I lost 25.5lbs, a total of 15% of my body weight and also won $150.  It was hard, but I'm so happy I did it.  As kind of a finale, I trained for a 10k that I ran today.  I finished it in 54:42, which was about 9 minutes better than my best time on the treadmill, so I was really happy with that.

Bruce has been hard at work getting our garden in.  He made raised beds, which he had to terrace to fit our sloped yard.  He also put up a fence to keep the deer out and he also planted some blueberries and raspberries in the yard.  So far we've planted carrots, radishes, romaine lettuce, spinach, chard, basil, cilantro, peas, beans, squash, and cucumbers.  We're also going to buy some tomato and bell pepper plants.

Bruce has also been doing alot of wiring.  He installed our new tv on the wall and also ran the wires underneath the floor to hook up our Wii/DVD Player that sit in the bookshelf.

We're glad to finally be fnished with at least one room.  This used to be the formal dining room, but we changed it into a playroom/TV room.  Here is a before picture (with the previous owner's furniture):

The girls have been enjoying the warm weather, and especially all the flowers that are blooming.

HAPPY EASTER!
