Bruce--Shocked & Amazed
A few weeks ago, Alice wanted Bruce to take her training wheels off--he did, she tried for about 3 seconds to ride around and then immediately wanted them back on again. So last week, when I suggested we take Alice to an empty parking lot to teach her to ride her bike, he was understandably hesitant about having to take the training wheels off yet again. In the car on the way there, Alice asked how long it would take her to learn and Bruce's response was, well Mommy will run behind you until she gets tired and then I'll run behind you until I get tired then we might even need to come back another night. Bruce (who hates hot shoes in the Summer) even put on his sneakers for this special occasion. So, you can see how optimistic Bruce was about the whole bike riding thing. Well, we get to the parking lot and Bruce takes the bike out while I get Quincy and the camera. Before I am even unloaded, Alice gets on the bike and just takes off! I catch the tail end of her first attempt on this video. Since then, she's probably logged about an hour a day, just riding up and down the sidewalk in front of our house and we did a 3 mile bike ride on Saturday, with Alice riding and me running behind her. She is so excited and we are to!

Hurray for Alice!!
Hurray for Alice!!
Oh my gosh!! Alice on wheels!!
That's awesome! You're a genius, Alice! We had a similar experience this summer with Miriam. It's so fun to be able to exercise with her (although I never log 3 miles!) Hooray for milestones like these. They're growing up fast!
Woo Hoo. I thought Morgan was never going to learn. She kept turning her head back to look at us and would fall over.
Madison was more like Alice...just got on and rode
Wendy
Tammy--Alice was actually inspired to try after seeing the video of Miriam learning how to ride on your blog. The girls just love watching all your fun videos.
