First Week In Lone Tree

Well, I don't ever want to see another box again. I'm not sure how we accumulated so much stuff, but we had a hard time fitting it in the 24' truck, which is bad news for the next move since that's the largest truck available. Hopefully, the next time we move Bruce's future employer will be doing it.

Iowa is wonderful! Above is a picture of the sunrise through out kitchen window. We love eating as many raspberries (see picture of our breakfast yesterday--chocolate chip waffles with fresh raspberries!) and apples as we want, the cool evenings, the brand new deck, and the cows mooing next door.

August was a pretty hard month for Alice. There was just so much traveling and so many changes that she was not very pleasant to be around, but it was understandable. This is Bruce's first day of work and most of the boxes are unpacked (at least downstairs) so now we can work on getting into a good routine. Alice has really enjoyed the extra space around the house and yard and also the walks around the orchard in the evenings (see picture below).

Yesterday, we drove to a small town about 9 miles away called Kolona. This area of Iowa has the largest group of Amish and Mennonites west of the Mississippi. It was neat to see farmers out in the field working on horses rather than tractors. The picture below is the parking lot in front of the farm store in town.
