We were very busy today--went to an enrichment meeting and learned how to make baby bibs and then before heading home we stopped off at the library, which is no small feat. One thing I do miss about Birmingham is the library only being 5 minutes away. Here, the library is downtown, right next to the university, so today we had to park on the 6th floor of the parking garage (the elevator was broken) and then walked around the block, past the protestors and the homeless people and finally got to the library. On my way out of the parking garage, I told the cashier that the elevator was broken and he said that they knew, they were having someone come and fix it. Having waited for the elevator for 5 minutes before giving up (5 minutes that I had to pay for!) I suggested that they might try posting a sign saying the elevator was broken.
Alice is blossoming into quite the explorer. Today, especially, I felt like every time I turned around she was into something or was crying because she had gotten her fingers stuck in something. I let her play with an ice cream scoop, thinking it was harmless and she somehow got her tongue stuck in the mechanism, so we had a bleeding tongue today. I guess I'm just not a good judge of what non-toy objects are safe!

Alice and I kind of have a tradition of sitting out in the front yard after we've gotten the mail. Lately, Alice seems drawn to this cast iron pig that sits near the road. The first time she crawled over there she gave the pig a big kiss, but now her favorite thing to do is to peel the paint off it's nose and give it hugs.
