Nothing stops Alice for long...

Alice surprised me yesterday when I found her climbing up the stairs. I decided to stand behind her and see how far she could go and she made it all the way to the top! Now we have to figure out how to keep her off the stairs.

I'm not sure what was going on this morning but it looked pretty. Maybe an airshow of some sort?

Alice has been feeling a little out of sorts lately and has needed a lot of attention. We're not sure what it is--our best guess is she's teething--but she's very cranky, doesn't go down well for naps, and sometimes just lays there on the floor in a daze (maybe because she hasn't been getting naps!). Yesterday, she started throwing these fits that I hope will go away soon. If anything doesn't go exactly how she wants it, she'll start screaming and flail her body backwards, then hit her head on the floor (or anything else that happens to be behind her) and then scream even more because she just hurt herself.

I just finished reading this book, 'Jane Austen in Scarsdale' by Paula Marantz Cohen. Great book if you liked Jane Austen's Persuasion and would enjoy reading a modern day version of the story. This author has also written 'Jane Austen in Boca,' which, I think, is supposed to be based on Pride and Predjudice. For someone who can't get enough of Jane Austen and has read her books over and over again, this was quite a find!

Another great series I just finished reading (I think there are 8 or 9 books) is called Elm Creek Quilts by Jennifer Chiaverini. They're fun, easy to read books even if you don't have an interest in quilting. No need to read them in order either--I read them based on what was returned to the library when I was there and didn't have any trouble following what was going on.

Well if you like her books, you should try "An Assembly Such as This" -- I can't remember the author, but it's Pride and Prejudice written from Darcy's point of view. I really liked it! If you can't find it, let me know and I'll look for the author's name. We are discussing it at bookclub tonight and I lent out my book!
