On Saturday we went to the Iowa/Purdue game. We only planned to stay a little while--enough to say we saw a game but not too long because we had Alice with us. Alice was just mesmerized by all of the noise and clapping and people everywhere. She hardly made a peep (very unlike her). She did start trying to grab at the people packed in around us, but they were understanding. We actually got pretty good seats--we were sitting in the section where the players families sit. And not only were we entertained by the game, but also by the people around us. One guy about two rows behind us started yelling at one of the players to turn around because he could have gotten an interception if he'd been paying attention. Well, it just so happened that the player's sister was sitting right in front of us and she turned around and gave the guy a piece of her mind. The guy was smart enough to leave it at that and not say anything back. We went home shortly after that (at half-time) but Bruce listened to the rest of the game on the radio and that same player that was yelled at made an interception and ran 98 yards with the ball--a school record. Needless to say, we wish we had been there to see what the sister said to the rude fan after that!

Here's a picture of our little house for all of you who are interested. This morning, Alice figured out how to get down the stairs all by herself. There's a deck in the back of the house that has a few steps leading up to it so she practiced on those for a little while and then we tried it on the big staircase inside. She just loves going up and down those stairs! For Family Home Evening on Monday we timed her to see how long it took her to get up the flight of stairs. Her first time up was 80 seconds, the second time 63 seconds, and the third time 57 seconds. She could do it a lot faster if she didn't turn around to see how far she's gotten every few steps.
