Snow Flurries

This past week the weather has gotten very chilly and one night we even had snow flurries! Not something I'm very excited about, but hey, that's what I get for moving away from Florida.

Since we don't have heavy winter coats, this past weekend we decided to go shopping. First we went to Kohls and then we headed to the mall. As we were putting Alice in the stroller to go to the mall, we realized that she'd leaked all over herself. Of course, I'd taken out the extra outfit from the diaper bag because it was too small for her and hadn't put a new one back in. Since we'd just driven 30 minutes to get to the mall, we decided wet pants for an hour or two wouldn't kill her. After changing her diaper, we went to the food court to get some dinner and Alice proceeded to spill water all over the front of her shirt (she likes to drink out of big people cups). Then, as we were shopping, she pulled off her socks (I'm surprised they stayed on that long), dropping them along the way. She had already ripped her hat off when we first got in the car and she pulled out her barrette as soon as we put it in, so her hair covered her eyes. Needless to say, by the time we got out of the mall, I felt like a very bad parent. It was like 30 or 40 degrees outside and Alice had no socks on, no hat, had hair in her eyes, not to mention she was soaking wet.

Then I realized I didn't have my purse, and decided that I must have left it in the bathroom at Kohls. Luckily, the store was open until ten so I drove back to the store, thinking it would probably still be on the hook in the bathroom stall. No luck there so I went to the customer service desk right next to the bathrooms and they didn't have it either. I left my name and number with the clerk, but as I was leaving, I overheard him say that he'd just gotten my number (in a way that sounded as if he'd done it for social purposes only) so I wasn't expecting a call about my missing purse anytime soon. I was really bummed out, especially because I had my temple recommend in my wallet, and we were signed up to go on a temple trip the next day.

When I got home we cancelled our credit cards and said goodbye to the money and gift cards I had in my purse (over 80 dollars worth) and tried not to think about it too much. The bishop was able to get me into the temple, so that worked out. After the temple, we had lunch at a little bakery in Nauvoo and then headed home. I decided to call Kohls, not having much hope that I would ever find my purse, but miraculously, someone had turned it in! I went to pick it up and everything was there--I was very happy!!!

I didn't know you were in the Nauvoo temple district...how cool! I am so glad you got the purse back. Mine got stolen from our car in the summer, and amazingly someone found it thrown behind the fence of our complex a few weeks later. I was so relieved.
Your trip to the mall sounds like anyone we would make!
