Baby Update

Well, we're definitely not having a September baby like we expected. Two appointments ago, the midwife said that if she didn't come on her own by the end of the 41st week that we'd have to have a c-section (because I've had a previous c-section I cannot be induced and the risk of uterine rupture increases as the baby gets bigger). At our last appointment, a different midwife told us that we didn't necessarily have to do that--she said at the end of the 41st week we could have an ultrasound to check the amniotic fluid level and do a non-stress test and if everything looked ok, we could wait until the end of the 42nd week. That was a relief, but again, there is a c-section still looming!

I read in a book last night that if your due date is based on an early ultrasound, there is only a 2 percent chance of you going post-term (past 42 weeks), so that was nice to read. Bruce and I are both getting anxious though, especially with so many people at work and church wondering when we're going to have this baby!

Original Due Date: September 20

Scheduled C-Section that was Cancelled (b/c baby no longer breech): September 19

New Due Date (based on early ultrasound): September 26

Ultrasound/Stress Test Scheduled: October 3 (p.s. Happy Birthday Mark!)

End of 42nd Week: October 10

When exactly we will have this Baby: October ___ ANY GUESSES??

Faith,
I checked the blog because I didn't dare call you to see how things are going. Thanks for the update. October is a great month for Parkinson birthdays, so she'll be in good company with Mark, Heather, Jill and Christopher.

A friend of mine who was due at the same time as you had her baby early and he is now 3 weeks old and 11 lbs. It's funny to think you were due the same week.

Lots of love,
Karen
