Myra had to get stitches a couple of Sundays ago. She fell into the corner of a desk (with a little help from Alice). I was half asleep on the couch at the time and Myra came to me with blood running down her face. I jumped up and cupped my hands underneath her chin to catch the blood, then Bruce came running and led her to the kitchen sink so she could lean over. Since the kitchen sink was occupied, I headed to the bathroom to wash my hands.
About every month or so, Myra will have an pee pee accident and not tell anyone. Usually, we find out by noticing a puddle in the bathroom or seeing that her pants are wet. Well, as I was dashing into the bathroom with blood all over my hands, I walked right into a rather large puddle. So, not only was I covered in Myra's blood, I was also standing in her urine.
After we got the blood under control, we headed to the hospital. Myra fell asleep in the car, so Bruce carried her in. As we were walking into the emergency room, the wound must have gotten jostled because it started streaming blood again. So, what the front desk saw as we walked in was an unconscious child with blood streaming down her face. We got some pretty immediate attention.
Myra was a trooper--she didn't cry or pull away at all. Of course, now they don't do shots anymore to numb the area, they just use this gel that takes about 20-30 minutes to kick in. The girls also got two rounds of lollipops and two popsicles each, so they probably can't wait to go again!
Alice tells me almost daily that she wishes she could live at Coney Island (actually, sometimes she says Candy Land, but means Coney Island), a small classic rides amusement park near our house. The first time we went, I wasn't sure if either of the girls would even ride the kiddie rides, since they wouldn't at the last fair we went to. But after watching their friend Miles, and realizing it wasn't that bad, they made their first attempt at riding it themselves and loved it.
After riding all the kiddie rides, Alice was just not satisfied, so our next stop was the Ferris Wheel. She loved it, but was still not satisfied. She decided she wanted to ride one of the fast rides. Well, I hadn't bought a rides bracelet and Alice had to have an adult to ride with her, so my friend Anna who has a season pass took her. Anna and I were both expecting that Alice would be screaming bloody murder during the ride and be a mess afterwards, but instead what I saw was an excited, smiling girl exiting the ride and immediately looking for the next fast ride she could go on. Well, Anna was a trooper and took her on a few more fast rides before we left. I told Alice we would come back with Bruce and he'd take her on any ride she wanted. Well, we did go back and Alice went on every single fast ride she was tall enough for at least twice--she went on the roller coaster three times. Myra even did a few of the tamer ones, and even did the Screamer (where you free fall), but was scared spitless and wouldn't do it again. But at the same time, these rides are all pretty mellow compared to somewhere like Busch Gardens. I wonder what Alice would do there...

So sorry about the stitches, but the carnival looked really fun. Why weren't you riding any of those fun, fast rides? Henry got stitches back in November and we used "Mederma" cream twice a day for many months to help the scar go away. I highly recommend it. I got the kind with sunscreen in it because evidently sun exposure can make the scar worse. Your kids are really cute and I enjoy keeping tabs on you guys!
Woo Hoo! You go Alice. I see skydiving in her future!
